🎨 you were only waiting for this moment to arrive
WHO: people!!
WHAT: arts festival
WHEN: late apr! forward dated a couple of days
WHERE: amberfall
WARNINGS: none for now!

Introduction
Welcome one and all toooooo the Titanic Dome!
This year's arts festival is a lot more ambitious than last year's, what with its giant venue that can house most of Ellipsa's population! Just like last year's, it is a festival by otherworlders for otherworlders, but it's definitely garnered a lot of attention that locals have come, too.
Despite it being a venue for fighting and combat and whatnot, the hallways that line the arenas are definitely prime areas for putting up booths and exhibits. Of course, the won't just be used for fighting this time around, too! It's definitely a creative way of using the venue. Granted, it's a little farther from the city as people do have to teleport to access the area, but what's a little adventure? Everyone is guaranteed safety here despite it being in the middle of two segments as there's security around, so even civilians and those local to Ellipsa have come to enjoy the festivities.
Everyone who participates is given a nice paper arm band like what people are made to put on in amusement parks. The bands aren't something everyone is required to wear, at least, and they can even stop by the booth nearby and decorate their arm bands! Show your support of your favourite fighter, or maybe you're a fan of one of the performers? Either way, it's definitely a good way to show you're on someone's side!
Food, Talents, and Exhibits
🎵 As otherworlders enter the dome, they'll be greeted with the sights of various booths and aromas of the bustling food stalls, some run by familiar faces you might know. Ayaka and Yoimiya have made sure there's plenty of food for visitors to eat while they walk around and partake in the festivities. From barbeque burgers and hotdogs to taco stands, to dumplings of all varieties, never-ending desserts and drinks, a plethora of goodies await those who are hungry. There's even a ramen food truck and for the more brave souls who wish to take on a challenge, featured on the menu is an appropriately named, devil's ramen. Nearby is a taiyaki ice cream stand for those who need to cool off their scorched tongues.
One of the main attractions is the talent showcased by the otherwordlers themselves. Strewn across the park are various stalls and art exhibits. A blacksmith booth with samples and sketches of all sorts of weapons is run by Jean. Works of art from Mary, Tau, Albedo, Kaeya, Jinhai, Rapunzel, and dioramas from Caster are featured. There are also other fun stalls such as magical face painting from Jinhai, and a crafts booth run by Rapunzel who is also giving out complimentary cupcakes. (While supplies last!) Come visit and have a chat with everyone while you admire their works if they happen to be around.
Inside the arena proper sits a dazzling stage stage for everyone to come watch the talents. Like last year, Ren Jinguji takes on the role of host, introducing everyone, hosting games, and even performing himself! All of the performers are stars in their own rights, showcasing their singing, acting, dancing, and instrumental capabilities. Pull up a chair or blanket, and come watch some showstopping performances! Everyone has worked so hard to make this a fun, joyous occasion.
Talent scouts, as well as other professionals native to Ellipsa, are present during the festival, as well. Any performers, if they do well? May end up being approached by these people at some point, and be given an opportunity to go big in the future!
Tournament
The schedule of festivities can be found via pamphlets and in various social media platforms. There are also screens around the dome that show what event is happening now and what event will happen soon!
The Flower Cup games all happen at the start of the tournament, on the first day. Each game is done one after the other, where contestants either line up on stage for the push-ups contest or down on the ground of the arena itself for the animal transformation race. These games serve as a warm-up for the audience to get their blood pumping and for their competitive spirits to light up!
After that, some talents are asked to come up on stage, whether it's a group acting a lighthearted romcom, playing the lyre, singing songs, or performing a "magic" show! Entertainment is at is finest–where so many forms of art come together to make people happy and inspire them. And after half of the talents that have signed up perform, Ren gets back on stage to announce that the Tournament is about to begin!
It's the Seasons Cup first before the Rainbow Cup, and it's towards nighttime that the Rainbow Cup actually happens. What's more, only the eliminations happen on the first day, creating so much hype and suspense for the following day.
Because of how big the tournament has become, many locals have even formed fanclubs of the participants. It hasn't even been a couple of hours, and there are already all kinds of merch of the participants that can be found in the various booths around the dome! Is that a body pillow cover of Hijikata?! Wait- is that E'kayan's face on a mug? Hang on! There are posters of Minato already?! People sure do work fast… There are even a bunch of very muscular men in speedos jogging around the arena come nighttime, all cheering for their Lovely Miss Yoimiya! People are going crazy for just about everybody who's come up on to fight, that much is for certain!
Come the second day of the festival though, more talents take the stage once more, some with their guitar, some with just their own equipment to sing and dance, and some to even eat a giant chicken! There are so many more acts prepared for the second day and everyone is hype for it! But what is more hype is the grand finale for the Seasons Cup and the Rainbow Cup.
Someone might have even rented a blimp just to drive a message by to cheer for Tartaglia! And let's not forget the one fan who's been distributing free bananas as a tribute to MK for the finals…
Of course, the participants do! Not! Disappoint! From day one until the last day of the festival, everyone has fought so well and has displayed so much showmanship. Right before dinner time, Ayaka comes on stage for the first time, introduces herself, and awards the champions and runner-ups with their trophy and a flower crown to wear. Prize money are credited to their accounts by the end of the week.
Before anyone can go, though…? There's still the closing ceremony to spectate!
Festival End
In Naganohara Yoimiya fashion, a festival is never complete without a barrage of fireworks. Together with Tartaglia, the two have prepared a dazzling light show to close off the festival with a bang. A series of fireworks representing each of the seasons start things off, pink sakura petals for spring, yellow suns for summer, red maple leaves for autumn, and blue snowflakes for winter. Next, star shaped meteors blitz across the sky, a representation of the otherwordlers who came from distant worlds. And last but certainly not least, the couple finishes off the show with a swarm of their signature mini goldfish and narwhals that swim around in the sky together until they explode into a beautiful array of orange and blue. Another exciting year for the Arts Festival has come to pass, one that is sure to be filled with fun memories.
Now that festivities have shimmered down, the organisers begin the clean up and the stall owners make their preparations to go home and close up. If you have some time to spare, feel free to lend a hand. The dome is still open to those who just want to wind down for the evening, various tables and chairs around the corridors for resting.
---
(( OOC: Thank you all for participating in the arts festival! The prompts are more general than they are specific, so please feel free to make up just about anything with regard to the various booths that one can find, as well as other things happening in the festival! Feel free to ask any questions here and I'll get to them as soon as I'm able! ))

Rapunzel • Summer
[Out of the large variety of stalls that have been put together by the otherworlder's there's one (possibly one of several) that seems to have a variety of different crafts on display. From small bits of handmade pottery to a few paintings, some scenic landscape art, even a few knit works. The pottery makes up the larger portion of the art, but nothing is quite as bright and cheerful as the woman manning the stall. Or her small collection of critters (Is that a duck lying in a dog bed next to a pokemon egg and a purple long-necked-chicken??).
Her hair, even bundled as it is, comes down to her ankles, decorated with flowers. She's wearing a comfortable looking sundress, and when she's not busy helping someone visiting the stall she's sitting down on a large bean bag, rather than a chair, sketchbook in hand and an array of colored pencils. One is in hand as she sketches out something or someone from the crowd. Feel free to ask about it!
There was no way she was going to miss this opportunity, so when the chance presented itself she decided to break outside of her old "comfort zone" and focus on less edible arts. Oh- but those are represented, too! There's a large food container off to the side in the area where her personal seating is, and on a table displaying several drawings of flowers and candid colorful sketches from around town there's a spinning tray holding a bounty of colorful cupcakes. There are some that are simply decorated and pastel colored, right down to their wrappers, but most of them are themed around the four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and autumn.
The pottery ranges from dinnerware to vases, and all of them painted by hand. There's even a water jug...? Well. In any case, the showcase has plenty to see for inquisitive visitors. Stop by and get yourself a free cupcake (They're pretty standard cupcakes, so those with allergies beware!), or maybe see about picking up something as a keepsake while you're here!
If none of that is enough to catch your attention, then as you're walking past amidst a group of others (whether you're a part of the group or just happen to be moving in the same direction at the same time as them) you may hear her calling out with an inviting voice to anyone who'll listen.]
Pottery commissions and free cupcakes here! One per visitor!
[A sign has been posted in Rapunzel's stall: "Stepping out for lunch! Be back soon!" with a time given. She's giving herself just two hours to take it all in, because by now she's kind of a pro at taking it all in pretty quickly, and there's always the possibility of closing up early, whenever the cupcakes run out. Right now she wants to see what others have on display before everything shuts down! Oh wow...! It's like someone's painting in the sky! Isn't it beautiful? How amazing would it be to be able to use the entire sky for your canvas?
fireworks
[Rinku bounces on her heels and nods excitedly at Rapunzel.]
Yoi-chan works really hard at her fireworks, they're super good! Oh, you should've seen the show at her and Taru-san's housewarming party! There was one huge one like a dragon, and it even moved around! Oh, except it kinda got out of control and almost hit me, but I'm fireproof, so it's okay. And they've fixed that now, so we can just watch and have fun!
HECK YEAH
That's amazing! I wish I'd been here to see it. Being fireproof is pretty cool too.
[She says it casually enough, but the tone of her voice IS appropriately awestruck as she flashes Rinku a smile, moving a little closer so it's easier to hear each other, and turns her gaze back up to the sky lighting up overhead.]
Have you had the chance to see a lot of her firework shows then? Does she hold them often?

no subject
[She'll never forget this, if she has anything to say about it.]
I wish I'd learned how to use the camera on my phone for this.
no subject
[Rinku pulls out her own phone and starts recording.]
That's okay! A lot of the phones here in Ellipsa work kinda the same. It's never as good as seeing it live, but I can try and film some of it!

at her booth!
He wanders first over to the cupcakes, all decorated so well that it almost makes him not want to eat one because of how perfect they look. But a sugary treat just might be what he needs right now.]
Are you sure I can have one for free? They look divine- I'd almost regret eating one, but you've made enough that I think eating one will be alright, haha.
Yeah free cupcakes!
When he first wanders over she thinks he maybe looks either a little haunted or a little distracted, but he seems to focus up quickly enough that it might've been her imagination. His praise earns a delighted smile, but in true Rapunzel fashion she doesn't linger on the compliment, instead-]
That's so kind of you to say! But- I insist! Besides, I have plenty more where these came from. What flavor would you prefer? I have chocolate, vanilla, marble- Oh! I even have some pumpkin spice and gingerbread. Or maybe lemon?
[Ahaha...]
no subject
To tell you the truth, I'm really not picky at all. Pumpkins can't really grow where I'm from, so maybe I'll give the pumpkin spice one a shot. I can't remember the last time I even had anything with pumpkin in it.
[Rapunzel giving him the chance to try things that he could never get in Snezhnaya, he genuinely couldn't be happier about that. 🥲]
no subject
[She looks pretty excited to be giving him that chance! Life is all about new experiences, right? She turns the tray so that the "autumn segment" is facing him, grinning.]
So what sort of place do you come from? [Since she doubts she'll be familiar with any place he names she'd rather let him describe what it's like instead.]
no subject
It's a land of perpetual winter, where the people of Snezhnaya fight every day against the snow and ice that threatens to swallow them without leaving a trace.
[Taking a bite after saying something so dramatic, he chews thoughtfully and nods his head. Naming it pumpkin spice is definitely appropriate, it tastes exactly the way it's described as.]
Not bad at all! [He exclaims, his eyes wide and expression bright with approval.]
I could definitely see myself eating a bit too many of these...

So, with a slight sidelong look at the very large bird-like creature standing in front of the cart, he approaches with his hands clasped behind his back.]
May I be of any assistance, miss?
no subject
And second. Hm... but how was she supposed to chose just a small number of pieces to put on display when each one had its own unique charm? Either way, there's no use crying over spilled milk now. While other artists have already finished packing and are taking their time, Rapunzel is still loading pottery. Anything that either didn't sell and items that were reserved for buyers for delivery later, all of it has to go back into the cart.
She had just finished loading one of the vases when Edmond approaches, drawing her attention back over towards him with an instinctive "Hm?".]
Oh, that's so nice of you to offer!
[She seems pleasantly surprised though, not skeptical or anything. Meeting friendly strangers is always a nice surprise in her day.]
I've really just got the pottery left to pack up... if you're sure you wouldn't mind? If I make her wait too long Lavender starts to get antsy to run.
[She gestures towards the chocobo who seems docile enough for now, curiously watching the other festival attendees as they go.]
no subject
No trouble at all.
['Lavender' is an interesting creature. He's seen ones like her about Ellipsa but never one so close up and his curiosity is fairly obvious in how he keeps glancing her way while he keeps loading up the pottery.]
It looks like you did well today.
no subject
Well, anyway, no need to derail and get off on a tangent in her own head. She makes a mental note to ask how he feels about cupcakes when they're done. For now as the two begin working to fill the cart with the remainder of her crafts Rapunzel takes notice of something else: His attention on Lavender.]
I did. She confirms happily. I think I gave away more cupcakes than I made sales, but I didn't really come to make money anyway. I thought it was just a showcase, so I'm pretty happy about the amount of interest I got.
[Her smaller sets and items were what sold the most. People were plenty taken with the tea cups and plates that she'd made, but also the smaller vases and flower pots.
Rapunzel smiles after loading one of the remaining pots, pausing in her work to catch him sending another glance towards Lavender, who's busy preening under one of her wings.]
It's okay if you'd like to ask questions about her, you know.
[She offers, hopefully invitingly!]
sorry for the wait! I've been going through it
Ah-- hm?
[He jumps, clearly embarrassed both about being caught and called out about his obvious interest, his face immediately colouring pink as he tenses his jaw and looks away.]
Oh, I... [Hmph.] I will admit I am curious. Where did you find her?
Artistic Endeavors
[ And oh so luckily for him, the wide variety of art at this particular booth is just perfect for getting a feel of the artist's abilities, which appear to be much more ranged than Lyney's used to seeing. But the technique behind each speak volumes and has Lyney smiling even before his attention is brought to the sweet snacks being offered. ]
If you're being so kind as to offer, I'll gladly take a sampling home to share. But I'd love to know more about your commissions as well.
no subject
Thankfully for both of them that isn't the case, so when Lyney stops by she's ready and happy to greet him.]
Of course! How many people do you plan to share with?
[She's prepared for this! She had taken the liberty of buying some bakery boxes, which she had already decorated with her art as well. What were once plain white cardboard boxes have been transformed with a style identical to the art on display around the stall. She couldn't help it. When she heard about this festival it was so far up her alley that she might as well have a residence in one of the buildings.
She's setting a box on the table to slide over even before hearing his answer, and opening it up so he can see the assortment inside. Eight cupcakes, the inner lid labeled with their flavors. Pumpkin spice, marble, vanilla, chocolate, raspberry, and cranberry.
Cupcakes aside for a moment-]
Right! Commissions! Soooo... I take all kinds. If its arts and crafts related, I can fill it! Catering orders, baked goods, sculptures, paintings, knitting, musical scores, even star charts and murals. OH! And I also have a friend that I sometimes collaborate with, for commissions. He has a booth here doing face paintings. Was there anything particular you'd like to know more about?
[Ha ha... She sure is chatty, isn't she?]
no subject
[ He holds a finger to his lips as if sharing a secret, grinning all the while. Never say Lyney didn't do something nice for Lynette!! ]
[ Lyney doesn't often get to run into someone who can be as chatty as his own public persona, so the novelty of it is a treat. He might wind up exhausted and face down in his bed later, but for now he's going to enjoy it to the fullest. ]
My sister and I are magicians, so props and sets are quite obviously an important part of performances. We're just starting out here in the city though, so we need to rebuild all of our performances pieces and I think the process might go a bit faster if we were to outsource some of the work.
And might I say, your wonderful aesthetic is just the inspirational look I think we could use to add an eye-catching flair to our shows.
no subject
Your secret is safe with me, I promise.
[Though she's offering him a teasing smile as she says it. Still, she does the "cross my heart" gesture for some added reassurance. Her attention swiftly turns to other things anyway, eyes widening with delight. But other than an excited, hushed whisper of- "Magicians!" -she doesn't interrupt.]
I'd love to help! Are you looking to have props made from scratch? That friend I mentioned... he can turn his own art into permanent, real objects, so if you're looking to save time and you're willing to hire the both of us... He could create them- or some of the parts you'll need, and I could handle decorating them?
no subject
I am, so that sounds like a wonderful deal for the two of us! A few props we'll need to put together ourselves, of course, to maintain our secrets, but it'd be a great help to have the pieces created beforehand. Set pieces, on the other hand, won't require many hidden trade secrets, but we will be rotating them with the seasons and events, so we'll likely have return commissions for those. Does that sound acceptable?

packing up shop! ♥
Her crafts are lovely and her pottery is a beautiful piece of art, Yoimiya can't help but admire as she gets closer. But it looks to be a lot of work for her to load up by herself, so she'd like to assist in anyway she can. ]
Hey there!
[ She flits over with a bright smile, waving at both her and the beefed up bird. ]
Is there anything I can do to help?
Re: packing up shop! ♥
The fact that she'd gotten enough photos to fill up a few pages in the scrap book was of some small consolation, but what she really wanted more than anything was to see familiar faces again. She couldn't help it, watching those beautiful fireworks at the end of the evening, even though she'd managed to make a new friend and spoken of such things as hope and determination, she felt the absence of the people who'd been beside her for years.
But all of this is gloomy thought territory. They wouldn't want her down on herself, and after the highlight that was these last few days she doesn't want to sully the memory by moping either.]
Okay, Rapunzel! You've still got a lot of packing to do. Focus up!
[Vases are being carefully but efficiently packed away in the cart by the time Yoimiya finds her. It's the flashes of blonde and oranges, reds, and golds that catch her eye first. She catches Yoimiya's energetic approach and after hearing that kind offer, brightens up almost instinctively.]
That's so nice of you to even offer, thank you!
[She replies, adjusting a vase in her arms.]
I wouldn't want to put you to any trouble, but I could use some help with some of the bigger vases. Kind of a two person job, you know?
no subject
[ As someone who assisted with the planning, she feels like it's the least she can do. But even if she wasn't one of the organizers, Yoimiya would still be happy to lend a hand to those who need it, everyone did their part to make this festival a success and she wants to continue to help. ]
Yeah, I see what you mean. I'd be pretty nervous handling those vases on my own. They are so beautiful...
[ She takes a moment to admire the vase tucked away in Rapunzel's hands, the colors, design, and everything about her pottery is lovely. Mindful of how delicate pottery is, she carefully makes her way over to one of the bigger vases. ]
Shall we lift on the count of three?
no subject
[He might be free by now but she figured she could handle this on her own! But, you know, the help is REALLY nice, actually.
Rapunzel finishes her current load and joins Yoimiya where she'd chosen to start, smiling and nodding. It's easy enough to position herself, and she starts them off.]
On three! One...

I figure from here we can summarize the rest of the loading to a point?
yes! that sounds good to me, i'll go ahead and timeskip
