🎨 you were only waiting for this moment to arrive
WHO: people!!
WHAT: arts festival
WHEN: late apr! forward dated a couple of days
WHERE: amberfall
WARNINGS: none for now!

Introduction
Welcome one and all toooooo the Titanic Dome!
This year's arts festival is a lot more ambitious than last year's, what with its giant venue that can house most of Ellipsa's population! Just like last year's, it is a festival by otherworlders for otherworlders, but it's definitely garnered a lot of attention that locals have come, too.
Despite it being a venue for fighting and combat and whatnot, the hallways that line the arenas are definitely prime areas for putting up booths and exhibits. Of course, the won't just be used for fighting this time around, too! It's definitely a creative way of using the venue. Granted, it's a little farther from the city as people do have to teleport to access the area, but what's a little adventure? Everyone is guaranteed safety here despite it being in the middle of two segments as there's security around, so even civilians and those local to Ellipsa have come to enjoy the festivities.
Everyone who participates is given a nice paper arm band like what people are made to put on in amusement parks. The bands aren't something everyone is required to wear, at least, and they can even stop by the booth nearby and decorate their arm bands! Show your support of your favourite fighter, or maybe you're a fan of one of the performers? Either way, it's definitely a good way to show you're on someone's side!
Food, Talents, and Exhibits
🎵 As otherworlders enter the dome, they'll be greeted with the sights of various booths and aromas of the bustling food stalls, some run by familiar faces you might know. Ayaka and Yoimiya have made sure there's plenty of food for visitors to eat while they walk around and partake in the festivities. From barbeque burgers and hotdogs to taco stands, to dumplings of all varieties, never-ending desserts and drinks, a plethora of goodies await those who are hungry. There's even a ramen food truck and for the more brave souls who wish to take on a challenge, featured on the menu is an appropriately named, devil's ramen. Nearby is a taiyaki ice cream stand for those who need to cool off their scorched tongues.
One of the main attractions is the talent showcased by the otherwordlers themselves. Strewn across the park are various stalls and art exhibits. A blacksmith booth with samples and sketches of all sorts of weapons is run by Jean. Works of art from Mary, Tau, Albedo, Kaeya, Jinhai, Rapunzel, and dioramas from Caster are featured. There are also other fun stalls such as magical face painting from Jinhai, and a crafts booth run by Rapunzel who is also giving out complimentary cupcakes. (While supplies last!) Come visit and have a chat with everyone while you admire their works if they happen to be around.
Inside the arena proper sits a dazzling stage stage for everyone to come watch the talents. Like last year, Ren Jinguji takes on the role of host, introducing everyone, hosting games, and even performing himself! All of the performers are stars in their own rights, showcasing their singing, acting, dancing, and instrumental capabilities. Pull up a chair or blanket, and come watch some showstopping performances! Everyone has worked so hard to make this a fun, joyous occasion.
Talent scouts, as well as other professionals native to Ellipsa, are present during the festival, as well. Any performers, if they do well? May end up being approached by these people at some point, and be given an opportunity to go big in the future!
Tournament
The schedule of festivities can be found via pamphlets and in various social media platforms. There are also screens around the dome that show what event is happening now and what event will happen soon!
The Flower Cup games all happen at the start of the tournament, on the first day. Each game is done one after the other, where contestants either line up on stage for the push-ups contest or down on the ground of the arena itself for the animal transformation race. These games serve as a warm-up for the audience to get their blood pumping and for their competitive spirits to light up!
After that, some talents are asked to come up on stage, whether it's a group acting a lighthearted romcom, playing the lyre, singing songs, or performing a "magic" show! Entertainment is at is finest–where so many forms of art come together to make people happy and inspire them. And after half of the talents that have signed up perform, Ren gets back on stage to announce that the Tournament is about to begin!
It's the Seasons Cup first before the Rainbow Cup, and it's towards nighttime that the Rainbow Cup actually happens. What's more, only the eliminations happen on the first day, creating so much hype and suspense for the following day.
Because of how big the tournament has become, many locals have even formed fanclubs of the participants. It hasn't even been a couple of hours, and there are already all kinds of merch of the participants that can be found in the various booths around the dome! Is that a body pillow cover of Hijikata?! Wait- is that E'kayan's face on a mug? Hang on! There are posters of Minato already?! People sure do work fast… There are even a bunch of very muscular men in speedos jogging around the arena come nighttime, all cheering for their Lovely Miss Yoimiya! People are going crazy for just about everybody who's come up on to fight, that much is for certain!
Come the second day of the festival though, more talents take the stage once more, some with their guitar, some with just their own equipment to sing and dance, and some to even eat a giant chicken! There are so many more acts prepared for the second day and everyone is hype for it! But what is more hype is the grand finale for the Seasons Cup and the Rainbow Cup.
Someone might have even rented a blimp just to drive a message by to cheer for Tartaglia! And let's not forget the one fan who's been distributing free bananas as a tribute to MK for the finals…
Of course, the participants do! Not! Disappoint! From day one until the last day of the festival, everyone has fought so well and has displayed so much showmanship. Right before dinner time, Ayaka comes on stage for the first time, introduces herself, and awards the champions and runner-ups with their trophy and a flower crown to wear. Prize money are credited to their accounts by the end of the week.
Before anyone can go, though…? There's still the closing ceremony to spectate!
Festival End
In Naganohara Yoimiya fashion, a festival is never complete without a barrage of fireworks. Together with Tartaglia, the two have prepared a dazzling light show to close off the festival with a bang. A series of fireworks representing each of the seasons start things off, pink sakura petals for spring, yellow suns for summer, red maple leaves for autumn, and blue snowflakes for winter. Next, star shaped meteors blitz across the sky, a representation of the otherwordlers who came from distant worlds. And last but certainly not least, the couple finishes off the show with a swarm of their signature mini goldfish and narwhals that swim around in the sky together until they explode into a beautiful array of orange and blue. Another exciting year for the Arts Festival has come to pass, one that is sure to be filled with fun memories.
Now that festivities have shimmered down, the organisers begin the clean up and the stall owners make their preparations to go home and close up. If you have some time to spare, feel free to lend a hand. The dome is still open to those who just want to wind down for the evening, various tables and chairs around the corridors for resting.
---
(( OOC: Thank you all for participating in the arts festival! The prompts are more general than they are specific, so please feel free to make up just about anything with regard to the various booths that one can find, as well as other things happening in the festival! Feel free to ask any questions here and I'll get to them as soon as I'm able! ))

Toshirou Hijikata | Gintama (Prismatica & Isle of Avalon CRAU) | Summer
A)
[The Titanic Dome, it turns out, is the perfect venue for the festival. What could get people more hyped up for the tournament than the gigantic arena setting? Hijikata, for one, can hardly wait for the battles to begin! Before it's time for that, though (and afterwards, too!), he's at leisure to look through the exhibits, paper armband decorated with a mayonnaise jar pin. He'll definitely visit the stalls manned by his friends and acquaintances, but chances are he'll also get curious about the works of someone he doesn't know!]
Business is going well, I hope, with such a crowd? What's your own favourite piece you've made?
B)
[He'll be cheering on anyone he knows (or doesn't know, because these are all talented people) performing onstage! When he catches them afterwards, he's still be pumped from the show.]
Good work! You've really got no stage fright at all, do you?
2) Tournament
A) (for
[It seems that Hijikata and his sworn brother Jean will be opening the Seasons Cup with their duel!! He grins with excitement as he faces his opponent. He and Jean have trained, sparred and quested together countless times; they know each others strengths, weaknesses, and fighting styles... but even so, they may just surprise each other! Hijikata makes a salve of fireballs shoot up into the air behind him to get the crowd even more fired up before the start of the round.]
Let's set a high bar for the others, shall we, Jean?
B)
[Hijikata may have lost to Jean, but it was a fun and fair battle, and he's proud of the younger man for how strong and inventive he's become. Watching him advance along with his other sworn silbings Mukuro and (in the Rainbow Cup) Shoto, he cheers loudly while waving fan-made flags and coloured lights! Of course, everyone else puts on impressive fights, too, so he'll have praise to spare regardless of whom he runs into after a given round.]
Well done!! If everyone here fought like you, we'd have no monsters left in the Segments!
Festival End
A)
[Yoimiya's fireworks are always spectacular, and once again Hijikata enjoys the sparkling display in the sky, feeling nostalgia for Earth and Prismatica and Avalon, and at the same time so happy to be here on Ellipsa right now. He smiles when he sees the goldfish and narwhals that close out the show. Having fought alongside both Yoimiya and Tartaglia, he recognises those from their Vision magic!]
It wouldn't be the same without fireworks, would it? If more people have the guts to sign up for the tournament next year, maybe we can stretch the festival over four days!
B)
[While Hijikata's joy for the tournament winners was sincere, it did sting his samurai pride to get eliminated in the opening round, and given that he's consequently had a little too many drinks, his mood gradually crumbles once the fireworks are over and the cheerful atmosphere dissipates as the festival slowly wraps up. While abmirable volunteers clean up the place (with or without the aid of cleaning spells), he can be found slumped in one of the countless spectator seats, smoking a few cigarettes at once.]
I thought I was doing fine, but... maybe I'm getting old. My birthday is in less than a week... this time, it'll be serious, you know?
[Whom is he even talking to?]
1B
[The Sobble in question is out now, however, perched on Rinku's shoulder and carefully eating a corn dog so it doesn't drop.]
You really liked it? How was the song selection?
no subject
[Her music is so fast-paced, it'd be hard for anyone listening to stay in their seats!]
I see Mecchan's having a blast now that you're offstage! Can you finish this corn dog, Mecchan? Maybe it'd be easier with some mayonnaise?
[He's already taking it out to offer!]
no subject
[Mecchan contemplates this and holds the corn dog out by the stick. He's not sure if mayo will improve the corn dog, but it can't hurt.]
no subject
[That sure makes him pause for a moment, and then he wins himself some more time by squeezing a generous amount of mayonnaise on the Sobble's festival food.]
I lost to Jean. I knew he was skilled, after all we train together constantly, but I think there was a bit of luck in the mix, too.
[He nods for emphasis. He's proud of Jean, he really is, but... he wanted to advance, too!! He'd been so excited for multiple rounds of tense battles with all sorts of skilled people!]
no subject
Aww... That's okay. Jean-san is strong too, so I'm sure you did a good job. It still sucks when you don't win, though.

Festival End B (As always I apologise for Eva)
She took out the heavy-duty earplugs she'd been wearing (don't mind her, the firework bangs are still too much like gunfire for her liking), and headed over to the row behind him, leaning over.]
Serious huh... well, you are getting old, Hijikata-san~ You're going to start getting grey hair soon.
[Says the 50 year old!]
Never apologise for her!! 🔥
[Wow, he really just outright whines in response?! (Yes. He's drunk and sad.)]
Don't even say that! If that happens, I'll definitely be replaced by a young double!
[Sorry, Eva, he may or may not be thinking about stuff outside the 4th wall. Also, hopefully the smoke from his 3 cigarettes won't make her cough!]
Festival End - A
[Kaeya pouted playfully, sipping at a cup of wine as he watched the fireworks, leaning against a tree behind the other man.]
I had a booth to man and a little girl to entertain.
no subject
[That's a cute mental image. Given the otherworlders' general prowess and increasing accumulation of heroic deeds, it's hardly a surprise that a dashing knight like Kaeya would attract attention! Little does Hijikata realise how shy the Cavalry Captain felt with all eyes on his photographs over the last couple of days.]
I think I saw your booth, but there was such a crowd that I didn't try to push through. Were those your pictures? Or were you helping an artist friend?
[Kaeya is already pretty as a peacock and a flourished fighter with both magic and blade; don't tell him he's got an artistic streak on top of that!]
no subject
[Kaeya certainly did have a special fondness for children. He chuckled quietly.]
Just the photographs. The artwork was done by a fellow Favonius Captain, Albedo. He's the one who actually introduced me to Mary. And he's the one who pushed me to showcase my photography, as amateurish as they are.
no subject
[Anyone who bought it will see his art in just a couple of days when May arrives. It's Mayorins frolicking in a fanciful landscape where mayonnaise flows among green hills under a blue sky, and it's drawn very amateurishly.]
Don't sell yourself short! From what I could see, your photography is pretty nice. Did many of them sell?
Tournament A
I just hope you won't break down too much when I kick your ass in public.
[As his preparation, Jean makes his giant fire hammer (which also makes the crowd let out excited sounds) and rests it on his shoulder. It doesn't burn him, so he can just do it as so.]
no subject
That's brazen talk for a pup like you. We'll see who'll be whining in the end!
[Sure, the people will just take his werebeast banter as shit-talking, but at this rate, it's the same difference! Seeing Jean's impressive fire hammer manifest, he responds in kind by summoning a half-dozen flaming swords in the air. Already, things are off to an interesting start with the blunt force / sharp edge division!
When the signal to start the duel rings out, Hijikata immediately sends 4 blades at his opponent while calling 2 into his hands. It's not easy to telekinetically wield several swords at once, but he's practised! Given that they're both fireproof, neither of them needs to hold back on that front at least, so it'll be a matter of employing the weapon qualities of the "firearms". Will Jean be able to fend off the swords coming at him from multiple directions, aiming to non-lethally pin him down?]
no subject
While the barrier is up, Jean launches himself through it to the side as quietly as possible (using Walk Through Fire he only recently learned), trying to surprise Hijikata from his left and hit him with the hammer.]
no subject
He darts out of range and calls in his floating swords to strike Jean from behind while he recovers his posture from the hammer swing - if he isn't planning for an uninterrupted round of those, in which case he'd be leaving his back all the more open for attack... or would he?]
Festival End B
That's an impressive feat. One that Yoimiya is almost tempted to comment on, except... she hears a very special word: birthday!!!!! ]
Oh! You have a birthday coming up soon? How exciting! When is it? And how serious is it going to be?
[ Sorry for her rabid fire question round. But judging by the tone of his voice, he doesn't seem all too excited for his birthday... ]
no subject
It's on the fifth of May, and it's going to be terribly serious.
...
How long have you been away from home? How many birthdays have you had away from Teyvat?
no subject
So soon! I'll have to send something your way. Every birthday should be celebrated, even if it's serious.
[ Is it his age? She wonders. Help. Is it rude to ask a guy his age??? She really is full of questions. ]
About a year and a half now! I've already celebrated one birthday during my time here but it will be two soon! I have a birthday coming up in June.
no subject
You really don't have to. Honestly, I don't think I'll celebrate this year.
[Last year, when it wasn't a birthday with such a pivotal canon point, it didn't feel so heavy, and he had fun going out with his sworn siblings and meeting more friends at the restaurant... but not this year.]
After two years, it doesn't feel bad yet. Enjoy it while you can.
no subject
Will do! Being able to spend time with friends is the best birthday present I could ask for.
[ Enjoy it while you can, she'll take those words to heart. Although she dearly misses her friends and family back home, this place has also blessed her with relationships she will always hold dear to her. ]
Did you have a good time at the festival?

Thankfully at least there's someone else out there that understands his bewilderment and possibly discomfort, he's seen merch of Hijikata around too. He wonders how he feels about it all, and he's got some other questions too since the last time he saw the guy.]
Yo! Hijikata!
[He picks his friend out from the crowd, waving a hand to get his attention. First things first though, and what's always the most important thing on his mind:]
I saw your match earlier, and it was rather exciting indeed. Sorry about the loss...there were a few times where I really thought you might of had it.
no subject
He smiles as he sees him, even as he brings up his loss against Jean. Right now, his pride for the latter is still overriding the slowly building shame and self-doubt.]
Yeah, there were some damn close calls! I like to think that I can take a little credit for Jean getting to this level, but then against he's got other sparring partners besides me. I'm glad it was entertaining if nothing else! How do you feel about your first match?
[Whether it's still upcoming or already over!]
no subject
[He shrugs, but that's okay. He doesn't seem bothered by that fact at all, and if anything it might prove to be exciting and a test of his abilities to go up against the unknown.]
You should come check it out though...Yoimiya entered into the Rainbow Cup as well, but she's fighting Shoto first.
no subject
[Hopefully, E'kayan will be able to hold his ground at least for a little while, otherwise it'd be boring! But surely, he knew what he was doing when he signed himself up for the Rainbow Cup.]
As for Yoimiya versus Shoto, it's kind of painful that I can't root for her... but then again, she's got you for that.
[She probably told her boyfriend about the blazing asskicking she and Hijikata gave to that cursed flying pirate ship the other month. Working alongside her was really fun and easy, and the samurai could tell how well-matched the couple is - both have a strong "challenge accepted" attitude!]
