mike, around mid-day on the 17th
Normally, Katsuki wouldn't be leaving Hijikata and Shoto's house by himself. He's been staying there for a little over two weeks, healing from his amputation on the first. He had no reason to go anywhere else, and up until just a couple of days ago he didn't feel well enough to leave in the first place. But this was day seventeen, and Katsuki was feeling pretty good. He was healing up just fine, and had been practicing how to walk with a weight hooked up to his hip since the third. He was getting pretty good at it, too.
So he decides to leave for the first time, and see if he can do something useful. Everyone at the home was out to help with the darkness, at the moment, and wouldn't be back for some hours and he was feeling antsy and wanting some fresh(?) air. Katsuki takes this chance to go into Nightwake, determined to learn what he can about this new circumstance and to led a hand where he can. Using a small explosion to light his way.
BOOM!
Glass shattering, and a bright flash comes from an alleyway near the outskirts of the city. And then another, smaller one happens again. Following them will lead to quite the scene... a familiar, blonde haired boy with only one arm being held in the air by a tall clawed monster while he kicks and struggles. Pale and gaunt yet slowly looking healthier, the monster has what looks to be fangs dug deep into Katsuki's neck on the left. And it's claws dug into his side and shoulder.
Just moments before he had been walking through the alley, taking a shortcut to an intersection when out of nowhere he was grabbed from behind. Pulled back and then bitten into the left side of his neck. Fangs sinking deep into his muscles, and blood quickly beginning to be whisked away from him. Of course he tried to use his explosions to fight the vampire off, but they did absolutely nothing and the creature was able to overpower him easily with it's superhuman strength. His explosions are unable to to anything but illuminate his attack, and blow the windows open of the surrounding buildings.
He still, frantically, sets off blasts despite being at a disadvantage. The more blood that leaves his body, leaving him feeling weaker and weaker, the more frantic his explosions become as he writhes and tries to break free. At first, mindful of the buildings and people around, but the direction in which he shoots them becomes completely random as he tries to just get somebody's attention. Using his Quirk as if it were a flare.
Surely, somebody.... anybody will want to see what was happening over here. Surely someone will come save him. Even this was on the outskirts of town, and most people were elsewhere as they tried to figure out what happened to the sky, someone HAS to come save him...!!! Please....]
Fuck...!
[He can't scream, his voice only able to barely scratch out a yell with a gasp. His body breathing and heaving so hard and desperately, fighting for life. And as he struggles, a memory flashes across Katsuki's vision. As his heart beats quickly, frantically, painfully in his chest.
A sludge Villain suffocating him, taking his life and the only thing he was able to do was blow explosions off pathetically around him. The difference was that this time, there was no crowd to gawk and watch Katsuki die like it was a show. This time, he was... completely alone.
And he was losing this fight, by himself. Quickly.]
Re: mike, around mid-day on the 17th
First stop is Katsuki. His son who currently has one arm and would be reckless enough to go out in this darkness. Fuck he hopes he is okay. He hopes he gets to Todoroki's house to find him bored, on the couch, and bitching that he can't even read like this. That he needs candles and whining at his dad until he makes them appear and then hugs him because Katsuki secretly scared of the dark and it's a touching moment between father and son. He hopes that's all he finds.
His hopes shatter at the sound of rabid and somehow desperate explosions, flashes of light and fire coming from an alleyway not far ahead of him. Mike rushes in to see his son held up by his one remaining arm. A tall pale beast with obvious fangs buried deep in Katsuki's flesh. His heart, his weak heart, beating more and more slowly as the life drains from him. Images play out in rapid, horrifying, and intrusive fashion. Katsuki's remaining arm torn off out of sadistic glee, all his blood drained, him dead on the ground, the blond falling out of his flower and staring at him and asking the one question he never wants to hear...
Why didn't you save me, Dad? Why weren't you there? Why didn't you DO SOMETHING?!
The darkness and shadows are his friends. They ripple as a growl emits from Mike as his eyes go pitch black.]
GET YOUR FUCKING FANGS OUT OF MY SON, YOU BITCH!
[Magic and rage are a terrifying combination. Shadow tendrils lash out and wrap around Katsuki. They force the two apart. Katsuki is pulled behind him as the tendrils wrap around the vampire. The creature, fueled by Katsuki's blood, breaks free and comes at Mike fast, a blur of movement. Momentum though is a bitch. Mike moves fast, the shadows pulling both him and Katsuki out of the way as ice forms where Mike was. The vampire slips and spins as massive icy spikes burst up, stabbing into the vampire's legs and then explode into more spikes through thighs knees.]
I got you Kitkat. I've got you. [Mike says as the shadows hold his son close to his body and slowly warm up to try and keep Katsuki from feeling the cold of this sudden night and the ice forming not far from them.]
Dad is here.
no subject
It happens quickly. One second, Katsuki is suspended in the air and the next moment he's feeling those tendrils wrap around him. Pulling him away from the creature who had made him it's meal. It's sharp and painful when he's ripped from the fangs, leaving some messy exit wounds that were sure to leave ugly scars. And it's amazing that he's even still conscious, as he's wrapped up in shadows and held protectively behind Mike. But said consciousness was starting to fade as blood gushes out of the two holes in his neck.
He couldn't see anymore, his vision so blurry and dark-- darker than the world around them. But he could feel Mike's desperateness as he fights. The wind whooshing through his blonde hair as Mike moves. The cold, frigid air of the ice and he could hear the sound of it forming, the sound of the vampire falling onto it and crying out in pain.
Katsuki's breath was so haggard, so rough. And he desperately clings to the feeling of being awake. He was so scared of dying. He could hear Mike soothing him with his voice, but he doesn't register what he says. His mind was swimming so fast, swirling with thoughts of "please don't let me die" "I can't die like this" "I have so much left to do" "I need to keep awake" "don't die, Katsuki".]
..d..dad...
[Katsuki's voice is so quiet, a whisper that can barely speak and he reaches out blindly to grab onto the fabric of Mike's shirt. Weakly. So weak that you can't even really call it "grabbing".]
I'm... I'm dying...
[He knows he is. He can't see, his heartbeat was the only thing he could hear and he was so weak. He's been here before. A hole ripped through his heart and the white light slowly filling in his vision. Memories flashing, thoughts burning, and the world around him disappearing.
What can be done to save him? He's lost too much blood...]
no subject
And words that douse rage with cold parental fear.
I'm dying...
Mike can't focus on that thing anymore. He casts a cruel spell with a flick of his hand. Oozing shadows raise up to form skeletal beings of pure darkness. They crawl up the vampire. The monster tries to swat and claw at them but their liquid bodies just reform. They push the vampire down, clingings and clawing as his legs tear and break. Use superspeed now, motherfucker. They pull the vampire down into a pool of liquid darkness, the legs can't follow due to the ice and so they snap and tear away.
Mike doesn't bother to watch. He turns and pulls Katsuki into his arms. The wounds! Fuck he forgot. Why didn't that shitty vampire lick them?! Fucking asshole. He holds his hand over the wound that's barely leaking, using death to coagulating blood and stop the bleeding. It isn't true healing but it will do in a pinch. His full attention now on his son and how cold he is, how his eyes look so unfocused and that light is dimming.]
N-No. No you're not. Hold on. I...I...
[What can he do? He tries to focus on what magic he can do. How does he make more blood when he doesn't have the knowledge or skill in Life magic?! What can he do. He pulls Bakugo close, his hand behind Katsuki's head, his boy's face tucked into the crook of his neck and shoulder.]
I'll get you to a hospital. W-What blood type do you have? I can try a transfusion. Just stay awake. Stay with me. I won't let you go. I'm not going to let you die.
[His voice cracks with painful desperation. Think Mike think! He can't fail his child. Not another one. Not again!]
no subject
...it's.. A...
[He'll tell Mike his blood type, but it's not like it'll do anything. Even with Mike's teleportation, he wouldn't be able to get him to a hospital quick enough. A blood transfusion wouldn't do shit, right now, and Katsuki knows it.
He shudders out a gasp, and his eyes start to feel heavy. Too heavy. But he desperately tries his best to keep them open even if it was hard. He felt safe and warm tucked against Mike like this, and he was exhausted. So tired....]
I think... I'm gonna.. go. Okay? I.. I'm sorry...
[Katsuki can't help but apologize, as he lets his eyelids close. As he takes his last shuddering breaths. If only Katsuki wasn't so weak. If only he had gotten his new arm installed, by now. If he could've fought the vampire off, Mike wouldn't have to watch his foster son die.]
no subject
Then those words. That admission. No. NO!]
N-No! No! Don't go. Katsuki! KATSUKI!!!! [The tears stream down his eyes and Mike tries to gently shake his son. He's so limp in his arms. No. No he can feel him slipping away. No time for the transfusion or the hospital. No time at all.
A hail mary. A desperate ugly thing to avoid his son dying comes to mind. He grabs one of the dismembered legs and breaks it off from the ice. It has blood in it still. Mike leans Katsuki back and tries to pry open his mouth with one hand, the other holding the dripping vampire blood into his mouth. He has no idea if this is how it works in this world but fuck he has to try. Maybe Katsuki will hate him but he can't just let him go. Hold his corpse until it disappears and see him in three days.
He has to try everything. He HAS to.]
Please work. Please work. Please please please please please...[Mike begs whatever gods this world has to please let his son come back to him.]
1/2
His body is still, heart silent. And at first, it seems like Mike's attempt to do anything to stop him from dying wasn't working. The blood drips into his mouth, but he doesn't react to it at all.
For what feels like forever.... Bakugo Katsuki is dead.]
no subject
Suddenly-- very suddenly-- Katsuki's body jerks and he sputters out the blood that was forced in his mouth. His eyes shoot open, glowing a bright red with cat-like slits for pupils and he gasps. Coughs. And begins to breathe sharply as if he was learning how. Like he's forcing himself to take these breaths, rather than his body doing it on it's own.
His eyes dart around wildly, before settling on the face of the man he'd been calling dad. Tears streaming down lightly wrinkled skin. The expression of a father who's son had just died staring back at him. Katsuki's glowing eyes linger on him for a few seconds. Seconds silent beyond the rasping of his lungs until there's the addition of a new sound. A... hissing sound?
It's coming from Katsuki. A hissing similar to a kitten trying to learn, as he bares his new fangs and suddenly lurches at Mike. He felt ravenous, his stomach was burning like a fire had been lit inside and the only thing he could think about was.... blood.
Mike's blood. His neck. He wants to bite into it---]

saya, sometime during the 18th
Katsuki was unbelievably angry.
Angry with himself, angry at the world. Angry at whatever God decided that enough wasn't enough. He had just gotten his dominant arm removed, not even a full month earlier, and now... everything has gone to Hell. The world was dark, sky blackened and allowing criminals and monsters alike the chance to make this place their own. And Katsuki had made the stupid decision to leave his safe sanctuary of a home, by himself, to see what was going on.
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Because of his careless decision, Katsuki became ensnared by a vampire and was made into it's first meal. His "dad" managed to show up just in time to rip Katsuki away-- but not quick enough to stop him from turning. He had lost so much blood that he was as good as dead. And now the heart he had worked so hard to restart barely beats. The heart he had protected so dearly only speaks to him once... maybe twice a minute.
A sad, singular "ba-dump" that was so distracting every time he heard it.]
GET BACK HERE, YOU FUCKING LEECH!
[Katsuki was so angry, and all he could do was take it out on the creatures that took his humanity away from him. Despite being told by nearly everyone around him to stay home, Katsuki just couldn't anymore. Why did it matter, anyway? He can't die from infection. He can't die if his wound opens and all his blood pours out of his body. Who cares if he gets injured, out here? Who cares if his amputation gets ruined? Who cares!
Nothing matters to him anymore, at this moment. He feels as though his future as a Hero has been ripped away from him. He can't be a Hero if he's targeting people to drink their blood, even if he only goes after criminals. That's such a Villainous, and monstrous thing to do. Heroes don't hunt after humans like prey. But Katsuki does.
And now he's on the hunt for revenge.
He's chasing after another vampire, blowing off explosions with barely a care in the world as he tries to blast off it's head. He's a baby vampire, only about a day old and has no control over his speed or strength. As he runs down the dark streets of Nightwake, he skids around a corner so sharply and so strong that his feet rip a tear into the cement underneath him. He doesn't stop for a second, though, and only has his eyes on the prize. Running after the vampire as it sprints down a skinny alley.
Unaware that there was a second vampire in the area, who the first just so happens to run right into the moment it exits the alley way.]
Re: saya, sometime during the 18th
Saya sings her song of compulsion, which will cause the vampires to be stunned for at least a moment (she's unhappy that the older vampires can shrug it off in so short a time, but the younger ones it works nicely on). She doesn't realize that this will also stun Katsuki, because all she can register with her hearing is that there's a vampire there--
--Until she appears in the alleyway, seeming to teleport since one moment the area was empty and the next there's a vampire queen with glowing red eyes, a fierce scowl, and a bright katana there, and she's pissed.
Her song stops abruptly when she sees Katsuki there, because she can hear his slow heartbeat. She remembers the broken concrete, and a thousand things click in her mind.
No. She's too late.
As her eyes burn with grief and rage, she grabs one of the vampires and holds it up by its throat, hissing at it in a way that exudes dominance. These things can't hurt a vampire-born queen.
They probably can hurt Katsuki, and they already have. So she holds it there, dangling in the air with its legs kicking, and looks to Katsuki with red eyes that seem to burn.
"They're all yours." She'll hold this one while Katsuki kills the other, and then she'll toss this one at his feet.
no subject
He looks at the end of the alley towards where he heard the song, and sees Saya there with a sword, her eyes glowing a bright red just like his own were. And it clicks in that moment that she must be a vampire, herself. Though he has it in his mind that she must've been turned, like he was. He sees the rage in her eyes and relates it to his own. And he understands that she's now there to help.
He uses his speed to close the gap between him and the confused vampire he'd been chasing. The vampire was just recovering from the singing itself and was confused about why there were suddenly two more vampires in the area. So he takes this moment of distraction to close that gap, and grabs onto it's head.
BOOM!
A burst of blood and skull, and then the vampire slumps down to the ground. Headless. Katsuki's never killed another living thing quite like this before, and he finds that it feels... good. Really good. But it wasn't enough to satisfy this bloodthirsty revenge that Katsuki wants. He wants to kill every last one of them.
So he's quick to snuff out the vampire that Saya tosses at his feet. A wide, malicious grin on his face as he stomps on it's head with all the force of his new powers. Crushing it underneath his heel. Brains and blood sticking to the sole of his shoe.]
There ain't enough vampire corpses on the street. Wanna find some more with me? I'll let you kill the next one.
[He's filled with so much rage, at the moment. All that's on his mind is death and destruction for evil creatures that deserve it.]
no subject
She inclines her head at Katsuki, her glowing eyes looking him over. "Yes. In a second." She won't be able to sing if she's fighting with Katsuki, but that's fine. She can kill these things in her sleep. She has two centuries of practice.
"You were turned?" she asks, her head inclining in a way that would seem almost casual but for how furious she is. It's evident that her anger is not at Katsuki, but what's left of the creatures at his feet, as she glares down at them and scowls.
no subject
...yeah. Yesterday.
[For good measure, Katsuki stomps on the brains that are left as if that vampire was the one who had turned him. It wasn't but he didn't care. He'd treat all of them like dog shit stuck to his shoe.]
The fucking amputee thought it was a great idea to go out in the dark, all alone, to try and prove that he's a big boy and can take care of himself! Like a moron!
[He kicks the body as hard as he can, sending it into the wall of one of the surrounding buildings. There's just nothing that can calm him down, it seems.]
And look at what that got him!
no subject
Saya spends another useless second being fucking enraged, before forcing herself calm. Rage means mistakes, and she can't afford any of those. Though she doesn't blame Katsuki for how he's feeling.
She can look after him, though. Make sure he doesn't do anything he'd truly regret. He's new at this, and bloodthirst tends to be up when you're using your energy fighting.
She flicks her sword to get most of the blood off.
"Don't be so hard on yourself. You were trying to help. Doing what a hero should do."
Her head inclines as if she's thinking. "There are two -- no, three -- headed towards us. I'll back you up."
No singing since it'll effect Katsuki too, but she isn't worried. These things are no match for a queen, especially one with a fucking grudge.
She lifts her gleaming katana, more than ready. Let them come, thinking they have the advantage.

hijikata, nighttime on the 17th!!
Normally, Katsuki wouldn't leave the sanctuary that was Hijikata and Shoto's home. He'd made himself a safe little place to rest and heal up, and there wasn't any reason for him to leave it. The others would bring back food or other items for him, if he asked, so he didn't need to go anywhere.
...Not until the sun goes out.
Katsuki tried his best to let Hijikata and Shoto handle it. He knew that the two of them would be more than enough on their own, but... after waiting around in the dark for hours by himself, Katsuki grows antsy. And a little anxious. So he decided that, since he'd been healing up very nicely, he would go out himself to see if he can help. Just a little bit-- he doesn't need to be fighting any Villains or doing anything intense. But if he could offer, say, a light for someone on their way home then he'd feel useful enough. He'd feel like a proper Hero.
Of course, Katsuki going out with a healing amputation all by himself wasn't the smartest thing for him to do. There weren't just criminals out and about-- there were monsters lurking in the dark, too. And in his carelessness, Katsuki ends up trapped by one and made into it's meal. His foster dad, Mike, found him in time to stop him from dying. But... he wasn't quick enough to stop the turning process from happening. So now, Katsuki has this new awful thing to deal with on top of everything else. And he feels so ashamed, too. That he let something like this happen.
After feeding for the first time, Mike takes Katsuki home and it's a few hours before anyone else comes back. And as he waits, Katsuki stews in his new reality. This new reality filled with blood and violence and death. The new reality that he was no longer human, and rather is now a predator to them. Like a wild, crazy animal. It had happened so suddenly, so fast and he wasn't sure how to tell anyone.. he didn't know how they would react. Would they be scared of him? Would they be angry that he let himself get so fucked up? And... what about his future as a Hero? Can a monster still be a Hero to the human race? When they're the ones causing all the pain and fear...?
Katsuki sits in this ball of growing despair, and he waits.
Hijikata is the first one home, and when he hears the front door open Katsuki looks in that direction. Hoping it was Shoto, and disappointed that it isn't. But... maybe it's better that it isn't. Maybe it's better that an (older) adult is the one who shows up, first. Someone with more life experience who Katsuki can confide in about what happened. He knows it'll be pretty obvious that he's turned into a vampire with just one look, so it'd be futile to try and hide it from him anyway.]
...welcome home.
[Katsuki says that quietly, as he gets up from his spot to greet him. And even in the dark it's obvious that something is different about the blonde, namely... well. Those bright ass glowing eyes of his. They're a nice cherry red, normally, but now they're glowing a bright neon red in the dark. He was nice and full of blood, after all. So they burn bright and energetically.
And if Hijikata can see in the dark, he'll notice the blood that's just all over Katsuki. Staining his skin, his clothes, his hair... even if he can't see it, he could probably smell the copper that clings to him like death.]
no subject
When he sees the boy's glowing eyes, he immediately knows that something happened, though what, he's not sure of right away. Regardless of that realisation, he moves as casually as ever, taking off his stained and splattered outerwear in the entrance area as if he just got drenched in the rain.]
Sorry, Katsuki-kun, I'm all out of mana - we'll have to light candles the old-fashioned way.
[Poor boy, he couldn't know where they keep those - and honestly, the only one Hijikata is sure they have is his Wishing Candle. He fetches and lights it, using the mayonnaise-bottle-shaped lighter from home that's gone unused for a long time now. Without further ado, he leads the way to the indoor onsen, waving for Katsuki to follow him. They're both covered in blood, sweat, and grime - a hot bath will do wonders for their tired bones, he's sure of that. He may as well chew the kid out for getting into the fray in the water's comfort.]
no subject
It was making him a little hungry... not nearly enough to attack. But enough for Katsuki to want to try and hide the smell from himself.]
I didn't even know you had candles.
[Well, singular candle. But that's enough light for them to see, as Hijikata leads Katsuki to the onsen. A nice bath sounds like a great idea, and he'll take off his clothes (except for a necklace with a pendant full of lotus petals, one he got from Shoto), and get in as soon as he can. Sinking down to his nose, and appreciating the warm water against his cold, nearly-dead skin almost immediately.
It felt nice on his amputation, too. Which had been awfully sore all day long, but Katsuki had been ignoring up until now.]
no subject
Shoto-kun gave you his Floral Illuminator?
[A keepsake from Avalon - one that can actually help them light up their living space later on, seeing how many flowers Shoto keeps bringing home. Of course, there aren't any in the bath.]
no subject
Oh, uh... yeah. He gave it to me for my birthday.
[Katsuki sits up a bit, so he can hold the pendant in his hand.]
He told me to keep it safe, so I'm keepin' it on my person as much as I can. Which I guess is a good thing, 'cuz it'll come in handy with the power out.
[Even though he's completely forgotten that it illuminates flowers until this very second. He's been so busy with everything else... he'll have to give it a try after they're done bathing. Katsuki doesn't particularly need the light anymore, but it could be comforting in a time like this.]
no subject
[His smile lingers as he remembers how diligently his then-squire prepared for quests and other missions, ensuring they'd have enough healing items and other useful things with them... it made a life-saving difference more than once.
But he can't keep procrastinating through these reminiscences, so he lets out a gentle sigh and starts asking the necessary questions.]
You had a shit time out there too, didn't you? I knew you'd be unable to stay cooped up in here with chaos raging outside. I wouldn't have managed either. It's human nature, isn't it? We want to apply ourselves.
[More likely, it's just them being reckless fighty bastards, but it amounts to the same difference!!]
How'd it go, Katsuki-kun?

shoto, the 24th
There were so many people worried about his mental state, and how hard it's been for him to accept that he can both be a Hero and be a monster at the same time. And he's had a lot of conversations about it because of that. Most of them leaving him feeling alright by the end, and like maybe he has a chance....
But then when he's left alone, his thoughts go back into overdrive and it's like a cycle that repeats.
It wouldn't be so hard for him to accept, if it weren't for the new inner thoughts that Katsuki's been battling with ever since he'd been turned. He hadn't spoken to anyone about them, really, because it's more personal. A struggle he doesn't feel comfortable sharing with anyone but himself, because his thoughts have become a lot more violent than usual. And it's been scaring him.
Sometimes, he'd have the impulse to punch someone for annoying him over tiny little things. Something a little extreme that the normal person doesn't usually deal with. But that's Katsuki's normal. He's fine with that.
What he's not fine with is the impulse to rip someone's heart right out of their chest and devour it in response to a tiny annoyance. That's not normal. And it's scary that it's actually hard for him to hold back. And how often these randon impulses, or intrusive thoughts and ideas crop up in his head. They're so often that they even start to seep into his dreams...
Katsuki awoke in the middle of the "night" (morning, more likely as everyone in the house is nocturnal) thanks to a particularly nasty nightmare. A nightmare where he went on a frenzy, running through the streets and killing as many innocent people as possible. Using his Quirk to blow off the heads of people just trying to get home. Using his vampire powers to rip bodies into pieces with his bare hands. A dream where he had both of his arms which were both being used for nothing but bloodshed and Villainry.
It reaches a head when Katsuki, in his evil glory, blows up an entire crowd with one of his most powerful explosions yet. Cackling so gleefully as if he was born to do this. To be so awful...
He doesn't wake up suddenly, and it wasn't even his dream that brought him out of his stupor in the first place. Little Deku had noticed how stressed Katsuki looked in his sleep, and was currently standing on his chest and kneading. Digging his little claws into Katsuki's skin and somehow weighing a thousand pounds despite being so tiny... he gently moves the kitten off of him and gets up, deciding that he can't fall back asleep and can't be left to think alone either. He feels bad but... he needs to wake up Shoto.
Quietly, he moves over to the other boy's room and slides his door open a crack to peek inside. And he sees Shoto sleeping so peacefully, which causes him to linger. Watching his lips gently move as he breathes slowly, in and out. Listening to how soft and kitten like his snores sounded. Shoto was such a sleepy person, and it's no wonder with how hard he works both around the house and outside of it. He can't think of a single time he's ever seen Shoto slacking... even Katsuki has his moments. And he wonders if maybe he should just let him sleep.
But the alternative was sitting alone and replaying what he dreamed of over and over in his mind.]
...ne. Todoroki.
[Katsuki calls out, before he walks into the room and over to Shoto's sleeping form. Of course, the first call doesn't get a reaction from him. So he'll reach out to gently touch at the other boy. Shaking his shoulder as lightly as he can, mindful of his super strength that he still needs to master controlling.]
Todoroki?
[He feels like a little child crying to mommy because he saw a monster under his bed. The only difference is that in this case... the monster was him.]

Happy, happiness.
The futon sighs, a motion shaking him into fluttering lids, and he rolls to his back. The spartan room is still dark, save the glow of a lamp on a low wood desk, paper diffusing a bloom of steady, muted artificial golds. He's moved a bookshelf to soften the too bright stream from the sun. Now barely awake, but the touch to shoulder triggers a burst, and he half shifts his face. Opened. Peaceful. Then brows tilting up:]
Nn-
[Again, his name, and he rolls towards the sound—still-closed flower inclining its face towards the sun—to blink pale eyes.]
Ah...
[Soft and drowsy, and he scrubs dry eyes to bring the blond into focus. Wakes on auto into a half-crawl, then stumbles to stand, kicking his sheets away.]
I'll get the gauze for you.
[Excited heart...]

It gets the smallest smile from Katsuki, and he almost lets Shoto go find the gauze for him just to let him have this sleepy moment. But that's not why Katsuki is here, for once. And so he gently grabs onto Shoto's wrist to stop him from leaving.]
That's not what I'm here for.
[Silly, sleepy boy... so used to helping him with his amputation that his mind immediately goes there.]
This'll sound stupid but... I had a nightmare. A really bad one. And I need to talk to you about it.
[It really must have been bad, if it was something that made Bakugo Katsuki wake up another person for comfort.]

Tonight, he thinks, is not one of those nights.
The bright eyes lift, narrow cat-like on the boy in the dark, then flicker with warmth.]
I'd be surprised if they weren't worse by now...
["I'm all ears", this seems to imply.]

They were getting better for a little bit. But after I turned they've just gotten shittier and shittier.
[Poor Katsuki's been wrought with all kinds of weird and bad dreams for most of his life, and especially since he arrived in Ellipsa. Mostly re-living his near death experience over and over again... but while he was staying with Shoto during his healing process, those had been slowly replaced with happier dreams. Dreams involving the other boy and their softer times together. Dreams that made sleeping so easy for him.
But now those dreams were fading away...]
This last one... it felt so real. I was doing a lot of bad stuff with my Quirk and it feels more like a memory than something my mind made up. Like something I've done before... or something I'm gonna do soon.
[He really doesn't like this feeling. Usually he can just write this kind of dream off but it just seems so much like a premonition. A warning... it might just be his anxiety going off the rails, though. This dream coupled with his more violent impulses that he's been dealing with as of late are a recipe for a paranoid disaster.]
I.. I dunno. It feels really dumb to admit this but I feel evil, Todoroki. I feel like I could become a Villain at any second. All because I've been turned into this... thing.
[He's so worried about what he could be capable of.]
