[OPEN] The More You Grow

It’s a lovely day for exploring the various segments, and today Zhongli finds himself out in Blossomcrown, taking a break in the park at the center of town. He’s seated on a bench, looking out toward the odd buildings as he catches his breath, although this break is less for him and more for his companion, who he is sure is more than a little overwhelmed by the urban sprawl.

”I believe that getting a lay of the land is appropriate here. Even these more populated areas… isn’t that right my friend?” he speaks, seemingly to himself.

Said companion is probably perched on a tree branch or something. Physically, he seems fine, but...

“...yes, Zhongli-daren.” is the quiet response.

[Nagisa was out for a run through the park--not a very interesting activity, in his view, but he's been dutifully sticking to Ibara's carefully designed workout regimen, even in Ellipsa. But he slows to a stop when he hears Zhongli's voice as he's running past.]

...Um... Were you talking to me?

[doesn't respond, but does level a watchful gaze on the person addressing (?) his lord, from up in the tree.]

Ah, not necessarily, although I suppose I should ask your name so that I need not address you simply as "my friend".

In this case, I am speaking with my quiet observer.

[He's met this boy before, and he seems about the energy level that Xiao can handle without too much stress, so he's alright with letting Xiao be known.]

[ Living in Blossomcrown means that the odds of her passing by this are not bad. Particularly not when she enjoys spending time in the park, too. As soon as she hears that particular set of voices, she's coming over. ]

I didn't realize that Xiao was here, too. Has he been staying with you, Zhongli?

[ She hopes he hasn't been living out in the trees in the park--although that does seem slightly more to his tastes.... ]

[Zhongli wouldn't have been surprised that Xiao was staying in the park either, though he would expect him to be a little further from the city.]

Ah, hello Miss Lumine. I do believe he recently arrived, just in time to help quell those pesky imps.

[He looks to Xiao in the tree then. He hadn't asked him yet, but of course he should! He could feel secure in an adeptal realm, away from the eyes of mortals, and Zhongli could help him manage his pain.]

How about it? Would you share in my living arrangements, Xiao?

[he was definitely trying to stay further from the city. gradually moving further away once he took in the lay of the land.]

...Traveler. You're here as well.

[and then dijun asks him that question, and...]

She does not call out to him before she approaches, but instead walks swiftly up behind where he's sitting and drapes her slim arms over his shoulders, pressing a kiss into the top of his cheekbone.

Guizhong has adapted quickly to this new environment and quickly traded the clothing she had arrived in for something more suited to the city. Currently she is in a long, flowing dress in a soft blue, with a pair of white sandals. She squeezes her arms around the man gently then stands up, patting him on the shoulder.

"Hello, you. I wasn't expecting to meet you out here."

Then she briefly turns her twinkling, mischievous gaze up to the other adeptus - the one perched up in the nearby tree. She gives him a little wave.

He's taken by surprise. While he expects to be approached, somehow he never expects it to be Guizhong, and doesn't expect her to kiss his cheek when she does show up. So he jumps a little when she touches him, and looks over to her with a bit of surprise before realizing who it is.

"Ah, Guizhong! What a pleasant surprise." He looks over to her, his cheeks coloring a little, but he keeps his composure.

"How serendipitous. I had wanted to introduce you and Xiao, although I have no prepared him yet, so please be kind." He says that, but he is so very fond.

[just kind of watching their interaction, bemused. he has really no idea what to make of that entire situation. does offer an incline of his head in acknowledgment of the wave but says nothing. ~~Zhongli-daren talks enough for both of them.~~

[This is the first time Kantera's seen this Zhongli and this - probably not Sakura - here in Ellipsa, so of course he naturally pauses upon seeing them, with clear recognition on his face. Ah, but how to open a conversation in a way that isn't awkward...?]

-It is quite a lovely day to be out in the park. If only I had brought some tea.

[Nailed it.]

[He's used to getting that look now. It doesn't really bother him though, and he offers a wave and a friendly smile in return, despite not recognizing this person.]

Tea in the park, hm? It does sound lovely, though I find it easy enough to enjoy being out without the need to occupy myself otherwise.

... Have you perchance met another me, friend?

[don't mind this bird being watchful up in the tree. the body language is similar to 'Sakura's', if far more certain. but there is no recognition in that watchful gaze.

[ Blossomcrown is where Nahida lives properly, so...she'll approach, sensing a similar energy. The name cinches it, although she could rightly use a different one. ]

[Zhongli is the weirdo living in Sunwaning, but he doesn't mind the travelling. It is nice to visit every part of the city and it's segments.]

In this you and I agree wholeheartedly. I take joy in learning of the lay of this land, as well as it's culture, although my Xiao can also learn such things for something more pragmatic than my romantic pursuit of human culture.

Meanwhile, here Hu Tao was! She was minding her own business as she was wondering more about this world. So far, it seemed rather peaceful despite everything going on. She didn't mind but she had to wonder if it would last. And yet, she knew she couldn't think about it for long.

Not after seeing a certain someone with another person whom she knew.

"What a pleasant surprise! I wasn't expecting to see you here, Zhongli and Xiao! What brings you out here?"

Ha waves to Hu Tao as she approaches. He knows Xiao noticed her, but still turns to look to him to be sure.

"Ah, Director Hu. Xiao-shangxian wanted to get free of the city, and I wished to get some fresh air on this lovely day. Although truth be told, that is an everyday occurrence for me these days. What about you?"

While Ozymandias could mistake Zhongli talking to him, he doesn't. He has met people with their quiet shadow-like companions before. It wasn't uncommong for the ninjas and assassin in Chaldea to quietly follow Fujimaru around.

Still, he was there, so.

"This part of the city is much too modern for my tastes, but I suppose it is also interesting." He says, as if anyone asked his opinion.

Thankfully, Xiao was not an assassin(not anymore), and he just preferred his solitude. The poor dear was stuck following his very curious and social lord around, though.

He waves a greeting when addressed. "It does have many new conveniences that I admit to being unused to. Humans are so good at coming up with things to make their lives easier." It's always so fascinating to him.

"Is it like this in the world you are from?"

[this is definitely a quiet shadow companion following Zhongli around. if Rider looks, he can see Xiao up in the tree, mostly concealed and keeping watch.

body language: he might be shaped like a human youth, but that sure is 'bird of prey' body language translated to his human shape.]

[ At the current moment, Theo is taking a break from his own exploration. He's not alone - never fully anyway - as his chocobo remains at his side. The pesky bird is attempting to swipe some of the snack that the Viera is attempting to eat. He keeps shoving the creature's head away, but the beast isn't deterred.

He pays little mind to the fact that someone is apparently talking to themselves. People are free to do as they please and here is much quieter and easier on his ears that in the town proper.

Which is why the response is what makes the Viera pause. Ears immediately perk forward, swiveling towards the source and locking eyes upon the area which it came from.

Look, he's had far too many run ins with people that try to hide their presence. It's a knee-jerk response. ]

Zhongli has never seen a chocobo before. He looks to the big bird, and would probably just have left it at people-watching as the guy tries to eat in peace, but for the way the Viera notices Xiao when he speaks, and looks somewhat wary.

He waves at the guy and offers a smile.]

Hello! A lovely day for a walk, is it not?

[if he looks very carefully, he can see up in a tree near Zhongli that there's a slender youth perched in the tree, mostly concealing his presence and keeping watch.]

[ It's actually quite difficult to wander in Blossomcrown's town center without running into a certain bard performing for tips. ]

he doesn't say anything, both too introverted and it isn't his place to say anything. even if he has never understood the particular...nature...of his lord's friendship with his fellow ex-archon. that kind of vitrolic arguing. ]
