the wax and wane of beauty
WHO: Princess Zelda
WHAT: Exploring around, playing with powers
WHERE: Botanical Gardens, Weapons Training HQ, Public Baths
WHEN: March in general
WARNINGS: Will be added if needed
OTHER: I will match style if you prefer brackets!
Zelda arrived in spring and has spent a lot of time exploring Blossomcrown and the surrounding areas. She hasn't been so brave as to trek out to the spring segment - she wants to go with someone if she does that - but the city itself has been safe enough for her. She has been lost in the botanical gardens for what feels like hours and all of the plants there are so different than the Hylian flora. She wishes she could take samples but there's no way it would be allowed in a garden like this so, instead, she takes as many pictures as possible with her phone.
She currently is taking a series of photographs of some sort of purple thistle that secretes a waxy substance and she wonders what the uses of it are, completely unaware of anyone else around her.
Zelda would never consider herself an expert at the bow but she's good enough that she wants to learn more about it. She finds out from her phone that there's a training facility, she makes her way over to it with bow and quiver in hand. There are weapons masters here, too, and while she's busy nocking an arrow to launch it at a target that's already been set up. She'd hit the closer target easily but this further one is giving her trouble - she hits it but it isn't dead center.
"Curses," she says, nocking another arrow. "I'll get this, I know I will. I'm better than this.
After a long day of practicing archery, Zelda thinks the best thing to ease her muscles is to soak in the baths and while she intends to soak in the baths meant only for women, she's somehow gotten in the wrong ones and there are men here too. Her towel is close by on the edge of the pool, though, and she sinks in to her chin and feels like nobody can see her.
Except - a native takes her towel thinking it's been used and needs to be washed and she lifts her hand and calls out.
"I was using that still! I need it to get out of here!"

public baths
Excuse me. I believe the person you took that from was still using it. It'd be quite rude of you to snatch away a person's way of leaving. I'd like to ask for you to give it back, okay?
[ For some reason, the native seems to be a bit freaked out as they hand over the towel back and just speed walk away with nervous energy but it's fine--mission accomplished.
Sakura decides to approach Zelda, her smile softening. ]
I believe this towel is yours, miss...? Where do you want me to put it?
no subject
( A smile, in absolute relief. )
My name is Zelda. And who is my stalwart rescuer?
no subject
[ She gasps a bit. That means that she didn't know this was a mixed bath? Nevertheless, she crouches down to place it on the corner after folding it a bit. ]
There we go. It's, um... Matou Sakura. [ She answers, polite as always. ] While this is quite an awkward meeting, I'm glad that you don't have to run out with people looking, Zelda-san.

( Zelda has discovered some cultures use their second name as a given name and some are like hers and have no second name at all. It is fascinating. )

( Zelda smiles, a lot more comfortable now. )
Does it mean anything special?
no subject
no subject
( All of written history, at least. There are periods of lost records. )

no subject
( Perhaps she could change her name here. There's no reason to keep using Zelda, is there, except that it is a legacy she is proud of carrying on. )

( Zelda looks around the baths for a moment and they're sparsely populated, at least. )
Just like I'll have to remember that there's a women's only side of these baths next time.

( Zelda had seen the clothing there and bought a few things, deciding she'd wear them at the appropriate time - whenever that time might show up. )
no subject
Oh! Was there anything in particular that you found surprising?
no subject
( Everything had been beautiful and made of rich fabrics and Zelda isn't necessarily a vain person but she does want to spend some coin there and get some of the clothes. )
Weapons training
Watching her with curiosity was Ruby, leaning on her scythe and watching Zelda act. She had the right idea, but she could tell she was getting frustrated.
no subject
"Well, look at that. It seems your coaching has helped me show improvement!"

( I'm just saying this is after the roommate post for timeline purposes. )

Ruby giggled as she pushed off of her weapon. “Yeah, Crescent Rose is really difficult. My uncle has a weapon like it, too. We’re the only ones who use ones like it.”
Well, as well as her mom.
no subject
"Has it been passed down in your family? Is that why it has a specific name?"
no subject
"You should do the same, but only if it's something precious to you."
no subject
She tips her head a little. "Did you see a lot of battle with it?"
no subject
"Ah, me? Eheheh, yeah. I'm a Huntress - Hunters and Huntresses are warriors who protect the world from creatures called the Grimm."
no subject
Zelda likes being able to relate to someone and Rose understands what it's like to fight for something and keep her people safe.
no subject
"Ah, th-thank you! That means a lot!"

As she says this, Ruby's going to approach Zelda and try to hug her.
no subject
"We'll be fast friends. That I know for certain."

And she hugs her again, sighing contently.
archery
Our bow doesn't always do exactly as we say~
Your form is good. You just need to work on your anchor point.
no subject
All right, how shall I do it, then? I leave myself in more experienced hands.
no subject
Make sure your thumb always presses there for each shot you take.
no subject
Remind me to ask you to practice wind later. I'm better at that, I promise.
( With Venti's help, her next shot hits the center of the target and she grins back at him. )
You were right!
no subject
See? Perfect!
no subject
( Zelda grins at him, excited about it. )
Where did you learn archery?
no subject
It's only fitting, then, that I pass on what knowledge I can, don't you think?
no subject
How long has it been since you have seen your friend?
no subject
[ LIKE, A THOUSAND, LOL ]
Your friend must not be here as well, I take it, or surely he would be giving you pointers himself.
no subject
( Or you just take their identity for yourself and cosplay them so you can remember! Whatever works, Venti. )
